Man Utd share team news update ahead of Rangers friendly

Manchester United have shared an update on the availability of Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho ahead of their friendly with Rangers.

The Red Devils announced on their official website on Wednesday (17 July) that Scotland midfielder McTominany would feature at Murrayfield following his return to training after representing his country at Euro 2024.

England forward Sancho, back in the fold after returning from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund following a falling out with Erik Ten Hag, is in contention to play having not featured against Rosenborg.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana and winger Antony could also feature against the Gers on Saturday (20 July0.

Rangers prepare for latest pre-season test against Manchester United

Rangers’ pre-season friendly against the Red Devils was confirmed earlier this year (Rangers FC, 20 March). The showdown will take place at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, as the club continues to await their return to Ibrox.

The plan of action here is simple – prepare as effectively as possible for a tough season ahead. They kicked off that preparation last weekend against Ajax, but unfortunately, things didn’t fall their way in a 2-1 defeat, but at least it got some much-needed minutes in the legs.

Moving forward, the assignments are pretty varied. They’ll collide with the Red Devils on Saturday afternoon and, following that, they’ll take a trip to the Midlands in order to face off against League One side Birmingham City.

From there, Rangers will finish off with one final pre-season friendly against Union Berlin before commencing their Scottish Premiership campaign on the road to Hearts. The hope, of course, is that the current squad can show some real promise ahead of any potential incoming signings joining the line-up.
