Coventry City trying to ‘lure’ French playmaker and product of Paris Saint Germain

Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive as the Sky Blues are linked with another player plying his trade in Europe

Coventry City are trying to ‘lure’ French playmaker Antoine Bernede, according to reports in the European media.

The 25-year-old midfielder is currently contracted to Swiss top flight side Lausanne Sport and, according to 4-4-2.ch, the Sky Blues have “signalled” their interest in the product of Paris Saint Germain by holding “discussions” with the player’s representatives.

The report adds that “no concrete transfer negotiations” have yet taken place, and warns that Lausanne rate the player highly and do not need to sell for transfer revenue.

The report begins with the headline: ‘Exclusive: Englishmen lure Lausanne playmaker Antoine Bernede’. It goes on to say Bernede has made great progress at Lausanne Sport over the past year-and-a-half, which has “prompted other clubs to take action”.

It adds “Coventry City is luring the playmaker to England,” and says he has already turned down French Ligue 1 side Auxerre.

The article goes on to say that although Lausanne finished third from bottom of their Swiss Super League last season, the club is “thinking big” and Bernede was “excellent,” having established himself as an “undisputed regular” in their side, only missing one game due to a yellow card suspension.

His stats saw him score one goal and provide four assists, and he is credited as one of the players who made the most passes and being one of the top ball winners.

“Bernede’s fantastic season has put him on the wish list of other clubs,” the report says. “According to information from 4-4-2.ch, English second division club Coventry City has signalled interest in working with Bernede.

“There have reportedly been several discussions with the player’s entourage. However, as things stand, no concrete transfer negotiations have taken place yet.”
