Rangers’ director of football recruitment Nils Koppen has a great chance to bring Lawrence Shankland to Ibrox and should act quickly following the forward’s impressive performance in a pre-season match against Tottenham.

In the friendly against Spurs on Wednesday (July 17), Shankland showed his skills by scoring for Hearts in a match where they were beaten 5-1 at Tynecastle.

Shankland received the ball in the box after a mistake by Tottenham’s defence before turning quickly and calmly putting the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

This kind of goalscoring ability is exactly what the Gers need to challenge Celtic for the title next season.

Rangers linked with Lawrence Shankland

Rangers are ready to go after Shankland again [GIVEMESPORT, 17 May] with Philippe Clement planning to strengthen the team to win the Premiership.

Losing to Celtic, who just won their third title in a row, has made everyone at the Gers more determined to improve.

Shankland has had a fantastic season, scoring 30 goals and assisting eight more.

With Kemar Roofe’s contract ending and Fabio Silva going back to Wolves, Clement might be short on forwards and this makes Shankland even more important.

GiveMeSport’s report said Hearts value Shankland at £5million, which might seem a lot since he only has one year left on his contract, but his goalscoring could be crucial for Rangers.

Even though Rangers had trouble signing him before, they should try again. Shankland’s skills could be the key to beating Celtic and winning the title.

Koppen should, therefore, act now. Shankland’s recent goal against Tottenham shows what he can do. It’s the perfect time for Rangers to sign him and bring his talent to Ibrox.
