Leicester City are plotting a move for Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs could be open to allowing the central midfielder to leave the club this summer despite the academy graduate being a fan favourite and a key member of their squad.

Leicester are in the market for a central midfielder this summer following Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s move to Chelsea.

The Foxes are keen to sign a player who is proven in the Premier League and can instantly be put into the starting lineup.

The 23-year-old has made 77 appearances in the Premier League throughout his career, scoring one goal.

Skipp failed to establish himself as a starting member of Tottenham’s team last season under Ange Postecoglou, with most of his 21 Premier League appearances coming off the bench.

Even though Spurs could be willing to let Skipp leave, the midfielder is under contract until 2027 which puts them in a strong negotiating position.

However, Leicester are keen to add more quality to their midfield ahead of their return to the top flight.

The Foxes have secured Wilfred Ndidi’s future as the midfielder signed a new contract, keeping him at the King Power Stadium until 2027.

Tottenham’s decision on Skipp’s future could also be based on what happens with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Football Insider previously reported that Borussia Dortmund are interested in the 28-year-old, and losing two central midfielders would be a big blow without a replacement being ready.
