Joan Jordan to Rangers transfer latest as another move ‘expected’

Gers had failed with an initial loan offer for the midfielder, 30

Rangers are expected to make another move to sign Joan Jordan on loan from Sevilla, it is being claimed.

It was reported over the weekend that the Ibrox side had failed in an attempt to take the midfielder from the La Liga side for the season. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported that Gers weren’t willing to pay enough of the 30-year-old’s wages and the offer was booted out for that reason.

He added that, as a result, Jordan was expected to stay put for the upcoming campaign. However, that may not be the case with Spanish journalist Facundo Serrano reporting that the Light Blues will go back in for the Spaniard and try to negotiate a deal.

He claims Sevilla are not willing to cover any more than 50 per cent of the player’s salary to allow him to go on loan, so Gers would have to pay more than half themselves. Serrano also adds there is further interest from Jordan from clubs in Greece.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement recently admitted he would have to move players on before bringing any more in. He said: “That’s the reality. That’s the reality that the board told me a few months ago.

“I know this, the recruitment team knows this also. This is the reality of the club. I had other expectations when I came in in October, I have to say.

“But I know the reality now. I am very motivated to build the club and help in that. It’s focusing not only on the short term but also on the long term.”
