Rangers blasted as ’embarrassment’ as ‘internal disagreements’ emerge at Ibrox

Hugh Keevins has blasted Rangers amid “internal disagreements” at Ibrox.

Keevins has criticised the Gers for a lack of transparency while writing in the Sunday Mail (page 57, 14 July).

The Gers will start the 2024/25 season away from Ibrox due to lengthy redevelopment delays at the stadium (via Rangers Review, 20 June).

And Keevin has criticised the way in which the situation has been handled.

The journalist wrote, “The costly fiasco concerning the hold-up to rebuilding work at the stadium, necessitating the move to Hampden for an undetermined period, has been an embarrassment.

“A lot of indiscriminate mud-slinging has gone on around the disruption caused to Rangers’ league, cup and European commitments caused by the delay of a steel shipment from Asia.

“It’s right that Rangers should now come clean then tidy up the liaison between club and customer. The season ahead will be tough enough without internal disagreements becoming a distraction.”

Rangers at risk of upsetting supporters at Ibrox

Starting the season away from Ibrox is far from ideal.

That in itself was already a frustrating situation, but supporters are likely to have become more frustrated after how the fallout of the situation was handled by the club.

As per the Rangers Review (11 July), the Gers are set to start their campaign playing their home matches at Hampden Park.

However, not only has it taken weeks for the club to reach that agreement, but supporters – who are paying the money to attend these matches – have been mostly kept in the dark throughout that time.

The Gers’ fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and they deserve to be kept in the loop when it comes to major club developments such as this.

Philippe Clement already has enough on his plate when it comes to bridging the gap to Celtic. As a result, these off-field distractions are the last thing that he needs.

In other Rangers news, the Gers will return to make a loan offer for one Euro player.
